Insomnia
I hate nights when I can't sleep. My mind whirls out of control...faster and faster. The thoughts swirl together until they can no longer be separated. My body cries out for rest while my mind is screaming to stay awake.

Musings on Martyrdom
Why is it as friends, family, and those who love addicts, we are so willing to shoulder the blame, the responsibility? What is it about our genetic makeup leading us to take on these burdens so readily? What is it about being a martyr that gives us some satisfaction? And why do we fall into the trap over and over again, even after years of recovery?

Finding Serenity
Serenity and spirituality are inseparably linked in my mind. One without the other is unthinkable. That however, is a rambling discourse for another time. Sometimes invaluable resourses seemingly find us - often when we aren't even looking.

Stop and Notice the Beauty All Around You
Life rushes past with such incredible speed. As children, days seem to drag, months take forever, and years? Well, they’re simply never ending. As an adult (or at least most of the time I am) they all seem to speed by in a blur. Often I don’t take time to appreciate the small things, the little miracles of everyday life. There are so many wondrous things to stop and notice everyday if one just makes the time, taking a few moments to look for and reflect upon them.
